Meet Zach Miller – the Farmer
“WE WANTED A WAY TO SHARE THE LAND WE LOVE WITH OUR COMMUNITY AND WE DO IT THROUGH OUR BEEF”
Zach Miller grew up on Timbercreek Farm. His family acquired the farm in 1976. During his youth, Zach trained and competed sport horses, eventually leading to a career as a steeplechase jockey. Following his retirement in 2006, Zach and his wife Sara returned to the farm. Zach Earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 2009, where he studied theology and environmental science. During his studies, he encountered the works of seminal agriculturalists Wendell Berry, Rudolph Steiner and William Albrecht. Those thinkers, amongst others, shaped the philosophy and sustainable approach to farming that Zach has applied to his work at Timbercreek. In 2009, Zach and Sara launched direct market sales of beef, pork, and poultry to the restaurant market of Charlottesville, VA.
